Allen Lee Shoup
Age 83, of Covington, went to be with the Lord Thursday, April 16, 2015, at his home after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born April 9, 1932, in Troy, Ohio, to the late Raymond and Ruth (Flatter) Shoup. Allen married Pauline Hinkle on November 4, 1951, in Piqua, Ohio. His wife of 63 years survives him, along with their children: son Gregory Shoup of Covington, daughter Paula & Gale Long of Covington, daughter Melissa & Gary Cooper of Troy, son Daniel & Shirley Shoup of Bradford; brother Marvin & Betty Shoup of Troy. He was a loving grandfather to 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Roger Shoup. Allen was a graduate of Staunton High School in Troy. He was a life-long farmer and enjoyed tending his fields on Barnhart Road in Concord Township, and his farm in Covington. During his life, Allen was employed at Hobart Mfg, and Friendly’s Ice Cream Plant, from which he retired. He was an active member of Nashville United Church of Christ near West Milton and was a faithful servant of the Lord. A service to celebrate Allen’s life will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 21, at Jackson-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 10 S. High Street, Covington. Rev. Lynn Labs will officiate with a private graveside service following at Highland Cemetery, Covington. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Monday and from 9-10 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
