Charles Austin

Charles N. Austin, 60, of Gettysburg, passed away Friday, October 13, 2017, at his residence.  He was born November 19, 1956, in Franklin Co., Virginia, to the late Nelson Lee Austin and Eunice Nora Austin Wilt, who survives in Rocky Mount, Va.  Charles married Carolyn (Bowman) Austin on March 2, 1975; she survives.

Charles is also survived by three sons, Wendell (Janet) Austin of Bradford, Brad (Monica) Austin of Glade Hill, Va., and Anthony (Leah) Austin of Greenville; sister Debra (David) Ellis of Rocky Mount, Va.; brother Phillip Austin of Rocky Mount, Va.; 12 grandchildren, Sierra, Lance, Mariah, and Chase, Kaitlyn and Nicole, Abigail, Macy, Laurie, Lee, Kirby, and Lani; father-in-law Odell Bowman; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Helen Bowman, Diane (Darrell) Flora, Gerald (Martha) Bowman, and Glenna (Jeff) Bayer.  He was preceded in death by his father Nelson Lee Austin in 2000; mother-in-law Joanna Bowman in 2016; and stepfather Everett Wilt in 2015.

Mr. Austin was a member of the German Baptist Brethren Church, and had worked many years for L & C Plastic Bags in Covington.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 17, at the Painter Creek Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 2996 Schnorf-Jones Rd., Arcanum.  Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery near Gettysburg.  Visitation will be from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the church.  Arrangements are in care of Moore Funeral Home, Covington.
