Danny R. McCarty, 70, of Piqua, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at the VA Medical Center, Dayton. He was born December 8, 1944, in Piqua, to the late Harold Sr. and Helen (Fries) McCarty. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela McCarty, his granddaughter, Chelsie Ball; two brothers, Randy and Fred McCarty; and two sisters, Karen Iddings and Mary DiPadova.
Dan is survived by three grandchildren, Cameron Oda of Minster, Salysha McCarty of Piqua, and Mackenzie Byers of Piqua; five great-grandchildren, Kyland McCarty, Connor Worley, Everen Worley, Trenton Ball and Teagan Oda; and siblings Harold McCarty Jr. of Piqua, Rick McCarty of Merced, Calif., Sandra Beckstedt of Piqua, and Delores Blackburn of Piqua.
Dan attended Covington Schools and served honorably in the U.S. Army. He retired from Armco Quarry of Piqua after many years as a truck driver. He enjoyed buying gadgets and helping others, but he especially loved spending time with his daughter Angie, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 26, at Dayton National Cemetery, where full military honors will be conducted. Arrangements are in care of Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, Covington. Online memories may be left for the family at jackson-sarver.com.
