H. Elaine Collins, 83, of Covington, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 27, 2024, at her residence. She was born December 29, 1940, in Farmersville, to the late Lindsey Wood and Helen (Brown) Wood Rice. She married Rodger E. Collins on December 14, 1957; he survives.
Elaine will also be missed and remembered by her daughters, Tamula (John) Sherman of Covington, Rebecca (James) Griffin of Byesville and Maria (Mark) Sheets of Covington; her grandchildren, Jason Collins of Piqua, Nicole Yount of Ind., Sharon Gonzolez of Troy, Josh Ehlers of Vandalia, Heather Beecher of Columbus, Gregory Yount of Covington, Nick Adams of Quincy, Mackenzie Sheets of Piqua, Cody Adams of Anna, Maddison Sheets of Covington, Brandon Griffin of Houston and Shawn Griffin of Lockington; great-grandchildren Caralyn, Aiden & Avery Collins, Lexi Yount, Kiara & Kiana Roberts, Caleb, Miguel & Isabel Gonzolez, Kaden Dotson, Aurora & Delaney Beecher, Christopher, Jackson, Carter & Camden Adams, Lillian Barhorst & Emmet Adams, Paisley Sheets, Natalie & Hunter Griffin; one great-great-granddaughter, Eveyln Yount; and her siblings, Faith (Tom) Caden of Farmersville, Gary (Sandy) Wood of Dadsville and Barry (Jane) Wood of Bradford. She was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney & Michelle Collins.
Elaine worked many years in the bakery for the former Maier’s IGA and Grissom’s IGA. She also delivered the Dayton Daily News. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, baking and cooking. But she especially loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Private services for her family are being handled through Moore Funeral Home, Covington. Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County. Online condolences may be left for the Collins family at moorefh.com.
