Helen J. Collett, 79, of Covington, a longtime Troy resident, passed away Wednesday evening, April 9, 2025, at Ohio’s Hospice, Troy. She was born April 16, 1945, in Dayton, to the late Michael and Harriet Ruth (Williamson) Lonkerd. She married Donald L. Collett on June 18, 1966; he survives.

She will also be missed and remembered by her daughters, Barbara (David) Foster of Greenville and Heather (Caleb) Melton of Wapakoneta; six grandchildren, Bethany, Wesley, Elyssia, Jaina, Quintin & Nehemiah; and a brother, Bill Lonkerd of Oogolah, Okla. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lois Rhodes.

Helen was a 1963 graduate of Vandalia-Butler High School and had attended Edison State Community College. She had worked for several businesses over the years as a receptionist. She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Troy and their Stephen ministry. She had also been active in the Troy Civic Theater. Helen loved to help others, taking walks, car rides in the country with her husband, embroidery, and music.

A celebration of her life service will be announced in the coming months. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County. Arrangements are in care of Moore Funeral Home, Covington, and online condolences may be left for the family at moorefh.com.
