Keith Elden Johnson, 89, of Christiansburg, formerly of Covington, passed away Monday morning, February 5, 2024, at his residence. He was born November 21, 1934, in Covington, to the late Oscar Millison and Opal Mae (Wolfe) Johnson. He married Emily Carol (Miller) Johnson on May 23, 1959 in Christiansburg; she preceded him in death April 10, 2004.
Keith will be missed and remembered by his children, Keith Eric (Beverly) Johnson of St. Paris, Karen G. (Delbert) Davis of Christiansburg, and Kevin S. (Virginia) Johnson of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren Christine (Emile) Martin, Elizabeth (Lewis) Winecoff, Nicole (Anthony) Helman, Ashley (Justin) Wolford, Travis Johnson, Collin (Morgan) Johnson; great-grandchildren Madison Winecoff, Dylan Gaston, Madeline & Mason Winecoff, Kora Wilden, Mikayla Cadena, Connor Wolford, Rylee Wilden, Emilee Wolford, Mack Johnson and Josephine Helman. He was preceded in death by all his siblings, Ralph, Don, Carl, Dick, Gene and Ronald Johnson, and Lois Lacey.
Mr. Johnson attended Covington schools and served in the National Guard. He retired from Delco-Moraine after 30 years of service, and had also owned and operated Johnson’s Lawnmower Repair for 27 years. He was a member of Christiansburg United Methodist Church, a 63-year member of the Masonic Lodge Mt. Olivet #226 in Christiansburg, Eastern Star and Scottish Rite, Odd Fellows and Christiansburg Kiwanis. Keith also was a 31-year member of the Christiansburg Fire Department and had served on Christiansburg Village Council.
A memorial service to honor his life will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, February 9, at Christiansburg United Methodist Church, 7 E. Third St., Christiansburg, with Pastor Mark Atterholt officiating. Masonic and Fire Department services will also be held. Friends may visit with the family from 3-5 p.m. Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are in care of Moore Funeral Home, Covington.
