Lydia May (Garber) Sell, 94, of Greenville and formerly of Arcanum, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at the Brethren Retirement Community. She was born January 20, 1922, in Montgomery County, to the late Jesse and Susan (Morton) Garber. She married John W. Piercy; he preceded her in death in 1973. She then married Theodore B. Sell; he preceded her in death in 1992.
Lydia will be missed and remembered by five sisters, Grace Baker of Gettysburg, Alma Beckner of Arcanum, Ellen McGriff of Arcanum, Lois (John) Wolfe of Huber Heights, Alice (Duane) Brewer of Versailles; stepchildren Helen (Bill) Peeples, Evelyn (Joe) Keller, Roberta Eby, and Robert Sell; numerous step-grandchildren, cousins and friends. Lydia was the leading end of six generations. She was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
Mrs. Sell was a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Painter Creek District, and was a longtime homemaker. She worked years ago as a cook at the former Darke County Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 18, at the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 2996 Schnorf-Jones Rd., Arcanum. Burial will follow in Mote Cemetery, Pitsburg. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the meeting house. Arrangements are in care of Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home. Online tributes may be left for her family at jackson-sarver.com.
