Nancy Anna Rurode, 79, of Piqua, a longtime resident of Covington, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017, in Dublin, Ohio. She was born May 8, 1937 in Covington, to the late Lloyd Ira and Nancy Annie (Skiles) Rumble. She married Robert David Rurode on June 26, 1955; he preceded her in death on February 21, 2005.
Nancy will be missed and remembered by her daughter, Leslie GeNell Rurode of Columbus; daughter-in-law Joanel Rurode of Gillette, WY; four grandchildren, Sarah (Joey) Kemmer, Ryan Rurode, Jacob Rurode, and Brittany Rurode; five great-granddaughters, Sofia, Lillian, and Madeline Kemmer, Lalia and Tia Rurode; sisters-in-law Beulah Rumble and Novella Rumble; brother-in-law Carl Lavy; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Stanford “Stan” Rurode; and brothers Lawrence, Robert, and Eldon Rumble.
Nancy attended Covington High School and was a member of First Baptist Church of Troy. She retired from The Upholstery Shop of Covington, which she owned and operated with her husband Robert for many years. Nancy’s greatest joy was her love of the Lord. She also loved her family, music, her church and church family, knitting, reading, and entertaining family and friends.
Funeral services to honor her life will be conducted at 11 A.M. Wednesday, April 5, at the First Baptist Church, 53 S. Norwich Rd., Troy, with Pastor Keith Wiggin officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Covington. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 A.M. Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Troy.
