Pauline Landes

Pauline Elizabeth Landes, the eldest child of Lester Rudolph and Elsie Mae (Mohler) Fisher, was born August 7, 1928 near Covington, Ohio. She peacefully departed this life on Saturday evening, January 18, 2025, at the age of 96 years, 5 months, and 12 days.

Hearing the call of the Spirit, she yielded her life to our Lord and Savior, and in July 1948 was baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, remaining steadfast and faithful until death. As health declined in the fall of 2018, she received the comfort of the anointing in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.

On April 24, 1949, she was united in marriage with Alva Daniel Landes of Brookville, Ohio. This union was blessed with three sons and three daughters, and together they enjoyed 71 years of marriage. They made their first home near Brookville, Ohio in the Wolf Creek district until 1952, when they moved to the Covington district, to the farm of her grandfather, Emmanuel Mohler. On this farm, she lived the rest of her life as a homemaker, wife and mother. On April 14, 1965, she was called, alongside her companion, into the Ministry of the Word where she served faithfully. Mother and Daddy enjoyed traveling throughout the Brotherhood, visiting family and fellowshipping with the church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a daughter, Janet Hess; a son, Bruce Landes; a granddaughter, Sarah Landes; two great-grandsons, Ivan and Will Slothour; a brother, Melvin Fisher; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois & Paul “Pete” Garber, Eileen and Joel Boone; her father and mother-in-law, Daniel & Rachel (Garber) Landes; siblings-in-law, Dennis & Ruth Landes, Lela & Marvin Shoup, Bernice & Robert Boone and Delma & Richard Swearingen.

Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Daryl (Rhonda), Bonita (Gerald) Flora, Areda (Daryl) Layman, and Duane (Nancy); son-in-law Tim Hess; daughter-in-law Diane Landes; and daughter-in-law Barb Williams. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Virginia Fisher, Phyllis Boone and Betsy Boone; 15 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Psalm 16 verse 11: Thou will shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
