Ralph Garber

Ralph Everett Garber, 92, of Covington, passed into the presence of the Lord, Friday, October 15, 2021. He was born January 5, 1929, in Gettysburg, to the late Elmer D. and Fannie Mae (Lavy) Garber. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Rachel (Denlinger) Garber. Ralph married Betty J. (Yoder) Garber on September 4, 1949; she preceded him in death on February 14, 2005.

He will be missed and remembered by his children, Dwight (Nancy) Garber of Pleasant Hill, Wayne (Bonnie) Garber of Covington, Wendelin (Harry) Anthony of Pleasant Hill, Mary Ann (Joseph) Wintrow of Covington, Brian (Kimberly) Garber of Tipp City, and Jennifer (James) Hughes of Tipp City; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Garber (Doug) Brubaker of Sawyer, Kan.; two sisters, Opal Fullmer of Dayton and Ethel (Calvin) Jamison of Quinter, Kan.; a step-brother, Norman (Donna) Denlinger of Brookville; a sister-in-law, Nancy Garber; 43 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Lynn Garber; a grandson, Andrew Paul Garber; great-granddaughter Kylee Jane Reece; two brothers, Harold and Eldon Garber; a sister, Dorothy (Harold) Turner; and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Fullmer.

Ralph was a graduate of Gettysburg High School and worked as a farmer, real estate agent, and a builder of homes and grain bins. He served as President of The Board of Realtors and was a member of Toastmasters. He attended Vineyard Fellowship, Bradford.

He will long be remembered for his articles on God and health, talking scripture, and his unwavering faith. He lived by Romans 8:28, “We know that all things work together for good to those who love God.” His family brought him much joy. He wrote a family newsletter and enjoyed staying active with his grandchildren. Ralph always said “when you have a good family, keep it and pass it on.” He credits his wife of 55 years for many of the blessings enjoyed by his family. He touched numerous lives, was a faithful friend to many, and it was his desire that we all love one another.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 22, at the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 6360 W. Farrington Rd., Covington. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Gettysburg.
