Rose Ann Runyan

Rose Ann Runyan, 88, passed away Thursday evening, December 5, 2024. She was born March 15, 1936, in Covington, Ohio to the late Clifford Harrison and Lena Marie (Bucholtz) Miller. Rose Ann called Covington home for her entire life. After graduating Covington High School, “Rosie” worked in downtown Covington for Dayton Power & Light. During that time, she met, and on December 21, 1958, married the new high school agriculture teacher, Dwane Runyan.

Rose Ann and Dwane raised their family just down Walnut Street from where she had grown up until they moved to “Dwane’s farm” west of town on US Route 36 in the early 1970’s. While she spent most of her time as a devoted mother and housekeeper, she also worked part time for Buckeye Insurance, the Sport Shack, and later, when her children had grown, the J.R. Clarke Library in Covington. Rose Ann was a long-time supporter and group facilitator for the Recovery program in Miami County, assisting others with mental health challenges.

Rose Ann lived the Christian faith, growing in life and in Christ at the Covington Church of the Brethren where she sang alto in the choir. Later, she attended First Baptist Church in Troy with family members.

Rose Ann was a caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to her family, who cherish sweet memories of the music, poems, and baked delights she shared. She is survived by her sons, Chris (Noreen) and Andy (Patty), and daughter, Dinean (Darryl Thelen). She was also an active, loving grandmother to nine grandsons, Ben, Eric, Craig, Tyler, and Alex Runyan, Thomas, Kurtis, Marcus, and Isaac Thelen, and one special granddaughter, Oakley Thelen. To this point, she was blessed with great-grandchildren Ivan, Eli, Carson, Levi, Quinn, Leah, Everest, and Aspen Runyan with yet another little boy Runyan on the way.
