Sandra Beckstedt

Sandra K. Beckstedt, 82, of Piqua, passed away Wednesday morning, February 26, 2025, at her residence. She was born December 23, 1942, in Piqua, to the late Harold and Helen (Fries) McCarty. She married George E. “Gene” Beckstedt on July 18, 1964; he preceded her in death on August 13, 2007.

She will be missed and remembered by her sons, Jeff Simmons, Richard Simmons and Rodney (Joy) Beckstedt of Houston; son-in-law Larry Pence of Sidney; brother Rick McCarty of Calif.; sister Delores McCarty of Piqua; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Pence; and siblings Karen Iddings, Mary DiPadova, Harold Jr. “Sonny”, Dan, Fred, and Randy McCarty. 

Sandra was a lifelong homemaker and a longtime member of the Sidney Apostolic Temple. She was involved in writing letters for their prison ministry and also enjoyed crafting in her spare time.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 3, at Sidney Apostolic Temple, 210 S. Pomeroy Av., Sidney, with Pastor Mark Hina and Bishop Robert L. Fries officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park, Covington. Friends may visit with the family from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Shelby Co. Relay for Life.
